Operator Program

The AIS heavy equipment technical institute's Operator Training program provides extensive in-the-seat training.

Experienced and certified faculty guide you as you learn what it takes to be a heavy construction equipment operator.

We offer both a six week/240 hour and a ten week/400 hour National Center for Construction Education and Research Recognized Programs. Click Heavy Equipment Operations - NCCER to review the three Levels of Curriculum

If you are looking to learn about specific pieces of equipment, we also offer Individualized Equipment Training, which ranges from one to five days.

The Institute is currently able to accept tuition payments through Michigan Works!, Michigan Rehabilitation Services and certain Native American Tribal Tuition Services.

Operator Class Descriptions:

HCEO 110: 10-Week/400 Hr. Heavy Equipment Operator Program

In this program, you will learn how to inspect, maintain and operate: bulldozer, backhoe, large excavator, wheel loader, skid steer, dump truck, utility tractor, rough terrain and warehouse forklifts and compaction roller. AIS Heavy Equipment Technical Institute Machine operator certifications are granted to individual successfully completing written and hands-on performance evaluations.

In addition to machine certifications, student will also receive First Aid, CPR Training and OSHA-10 certifications.

Cost includes: textbook, hardhat, safety glasses and safety vest.

COST: $11,500

HCEO 106: 6-Week/240 Hr. Heavy Equipment Operator Program

In this program, you will learn how to inspect, maintain and operate: wheel loader, mini-excavator, dump truck, skid steer, utility tractor, rough terrain and warehouse forklifts. AIS Heavy Equipment Technical Institute Machine operator certifications are granted to individual successfully completing written and hands-on performance evaluations.

In addition to machine certifications, student will also receive First Aid, CPR Training and OSHA 10 certifications.

Cost includes: textbook, hardhat, safety glasses and safety vest.
